Curriculum/Material Title | Pathways to Recovery: A Strengths Recovery Self-Help Workbook |
Publisher/Creator/Content Manager | by Priscilla Ridgway et al. |
Best suited for group or individual? | Either group or individual |
Proprietary/special facilitator training required? | Facilitator training not required |
Other Associated Cost | While books are available as PDFs, the size and structure would suggest that purchasing a workbook for each participant would be much preferred (~$20/each on Amazon) Facilitation guide could be printed as needed and placed in a binder without issue |
Description | Based on the Strengths Model out of Kansas University Workbook translates that model into self-help format Groups began to develop organically following initial workbook publication, so subsequent facilitation guide was developed Less illness/disease focused and more recovery focused than some other models Twelve large Chapters with overarching topics • Each chapter broken into multiple smaller sections Does not need to be done in order (individually), and in fact is not done in order (group) Facilitation guide is very detailed regarding session structure and breakdown • Includes a variety of activities beyond just reading through related section of the workbook (posters, collages, etc.) Appears very accessible in regards to material itself, but lengthy/could be overwhelming |
